Breaking down Mitosis

Mitosis is a very detailed process in biology curriculum. It is very important for students to understand mitosis for future classes and topics. Although some students may find this topic easy to understand, I notice that many students struggle understanding and remembering each stage of mitosis. Does anybody have any advice on how to present and re-enforce this information?

I know that many of us had used the pneumonic device: PMAT (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase) to remember the order, but students would still need to know what happens at each phase. The many good short videos of cell mitosis help much with this. See the cellsalive website also.
