The Formative Assessment Probe article 'Cookie Crumbles', the example probe assesses students' prior conceptions of the physical and chemical properties of cookies. This type of probe could be used in my instructional practice by helping me identify any student misconceptions regarding the given topic and provide the necessary information for designing more effective instruction. Furthermore, this example probe reveals the usefulness of P-E-O probes in launching a science activity. It can be adapted to be used with different concepts, topics, and activities for understanding students' prior conceptions. Moreover, to effectively use this probe, it is important to craft precise questions that elicit responses aligned with the learning outcomes and accessible to students. Additionally, consistent data should be collected to identify student misconceptions and help inform more effective instructional design.
