Hi everyone! I would like to hear any suggestions or advice you have for teaching food chains to third grade. The objective for my lesson is that the SWBAT identify and describe the flow of energy in a food chain and predict how changes in a food chain affect the ecosystem. I plan on beginning my lesson by reading, 'Hey Diddle Diddle: A Food Chain Tale.' After a mini discussion of the book and introducing food chains, I will have students get into small groups and explore different food chains with food chain pyramids. The students will be placing the sun, plant and animals on the food pyramid and I will be walking around and asking each group a question about their food chain. I would love to hear any suggestions or advice you have on how I can improve my lesson activity.
