Engage your students!  Have them meet a real scientist in the field!  Collaborate with experts outside of the classroom.

Last year I used the Skype a Scientist program to connect with a marine biologist during our ocean unit.  It went really well.  The scientist that we connected with was very accommodating and provided incredible information to my students. My students loved it!

Hey there Sandra! This is awesome and I plan to save this resource to use in my future classroom. I am a preservice teacher at Wartburg College and we are often looking for ways that students can interact with experts in our future classrooms. I cannot wait to try this out. We recently had a guest speaker from the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation. Our speaker informed us that we can also video chat with farmers across Iowa. Just another idea to keep in mind, along the times of skyping a scientist.
