STEM in the Special Education

Hello!

I am currently a student at the Universtiy of Hawaii at Manoa! This semester I am doing field experience in a FSC classroom and have struggled on how to teach STEM to my studnets. I think that it is so important that my students have experience and are exposed to STEM as much as possible. However, I feel like I could use more support and experience on how to appropriately scaffold the material for my students so that it is accessible and meaningful for them.

I recently taught a lesson on energy and ramps. The studnets loved it and responded so well to the 'experient' part of the lesson but I am searching for ways on how to engage them more during the instructional parts and how to promote their inquiry.

If anyone has resources or experience with how to adequately scaffold and support students with severe and profound disabilities in the STEM areas please share!

Thank you so much,

Dani Moss
