Hello (:
I wanted to ask for advice on teaching students with disabilities. What can you do with science in special education? How can we meet special education students' needs?
Although I am not yet in my own classroom, I have had a lot of experience in the special education from field experience, mentoring, and substituting as a paraeducator. From my observations and experiences, the best way to fit a student's needs is to provide sensory activities, such as exploring through sand and digging up 'fossils'. The most important part of working with students with special needs is making sure that you stay informed of the accommodations and modifications on their IEPs and adapt your activities to best fit their individual learning styles.
