What is the best way to introduce force and motion to 4th graders?
Have you thought of starting with an experiment or exploration and have them record their findings without giving them any explanation?
Using Roller Coaster activities are always engaging. There are several great children's literature that can be used to kick off this unit. Also many lesson resources are available through online searches.
Students can build a roller coaster out of paper and simple materials. Have students work in teams and create a roller coaster, always engaging, paper coasters!
My seven year old made this paper coaster!
Oops, here it is!

I am studying to be a teacher, science is not my strongest field but the school in which I was working brought in this group called FMA Live! They were amazing! The group sang and danced and did demonstrations on what the law was. Very cool. The have a website with different ideas as well! Check it out! http://fmalive.honeywell.com/
