Dear OST provider,

We need your help! Researchers in the Science Education Department of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian are working on an NSF-funded study: 'Instrument Development: Racially & Ethnically Minoritized Youths’ Varied Out-Of-School-Time Experiences and Their Effects on STEM Attitudes, Identity, and Career Interest.” The goal of this project is to develop an instrument to identify and test factors of Out-of-School Time (OST) activities that are hypothesized to strengthen STEM interest, identity and career interest especially for students who are traditionally underrepresented in STEM. The project is particularly interested in how community cultural capital is leveraged through informal activities and experiences, drawing upon the “funds of knowledge” that culturally diverse students bring to these STEM experiences.

What are your hypotheses? We are interested in learning about STEM opportunities that you (as stakeholders) offer and what you believe are the features of these opportunities that have the greatest impact on your participants’ science interests, STEM identity, and their desire to pursue STEM careers.

Please take a few minutes in the next two weeks to answer a brief survey:
