How do I keep my students continuously involved in the classroom discussion?

I'm not sure what grade you teach, but I find that brain breaks are essential to my third graders to keep their focus and to keep them engaged!

I am currently a student teacher, and I also love using brain breaks with my sixth graders! Another idea is using names when asking questions! On our instruction days, it is a lot of just me talking, so when I ask a question, I'll say, '(students' name) how do I get the variable on its own?' This engages most students because they will know to pay attention, and icludes everyone to be involved.
