Do you know any students or teachers interested in taking or teaching chemistry next year? I think they will be interested in a program we have at McREL called Cosmic Chemistry. The curriculum is free and evaluated well. In fact, our pilot test showed that participants were better prepared for chemistry – and frequently ended up tutoring other students. It works! Cosmic Chemistry is an incredible two-week summer chemistry prep course for high school students; an engaging experience that infuses NASA content into interactive hands-on activities. Included are investigations into matter, the periodic table and isotopes, as well as preparation materials. During the first week, educators experience the content as learners – and so that their experience is as successful as ours was, this professional development week should be facilitated by McREL In the second week, educators work alongside students with NASA scientists and engineers as they investigate and experiment finding and using data from NASA’s Genesis mission. Not only do the students learn, according to one student in the following video, it is FUN! To learn more view the attached flyer.
