While it technically stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, I tend to look at STEM holistically.
I see it as a way of teaching, and not necessarily teaching science, technology, engineering and/or math. It is using science to teach reaching, it is using technology to teach PE, and it is using math to teach music. It is a way of looking at teaching that embraces the world our kids know and live in today. It is using cell phones for educational purposes, it is problem solving and critical thinking, and it addressing real world global issues. To me, STEM is a pedagogy - a way of teaching that addresses the needs of our 21st century students.
