Good afternoon,
My name is Nyka Aukstuolis and I am a contractor at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), a component of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) within the Department of Health and Human Services. Our mission is to develop medical countermeasures such as vaccines, therapeutics, diagnostics and devices that may be needed in a public health emergency. In support of its mission, BARDA launched the SPRINT (Science, Preparedness and Response, Innovations, and New Technologies) Program, an initiative that engages students on scientific areas within BARDA’s mission space, encourages students to consider a career in STEM and public service, and aims to generate excitement about BARDA's work in the biomedical and health security fields. Aligning with BARDA’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, the SPRINT program aims to build a more inclusive workforce by engaging high-school students through STEM programming, internships, and mentorships with a specific emphasis on engaging schools in underserved communities.
We are partnering with the National STEM Festival to put on a virtual career panel on April 10th from 3:45pm-5:00pm EST. The virtual career webinar will consist of our BARDA leadership representatives and subject matter experts in our organization. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for students to hear about the breadth of STEM career paths and jobs in the federal government. Attached is a flyer for additional information.
