What would be a fun and exciting lesson to teach about astronomy that may solve common misconceptions that third grade students may have?

You might try adapting something from this kinesthetic astronomy program: http://www.spacescience.org/education/extra/kinesthetic_astronomy/ I had an intern do it with a particularly wiggly 6th grade class and it worked great, many fewer misconceptions about motion of Earth, seasons and the moon than usual! Good luck- astronomy is tricky because of scale. Even I have a hard time picturing it sometimes!

Hi Ann, I have created a YouTube channel called FunScienceDemonstrations that is home to hundreds of free video demonstrations. The videos are all common core aligned and cover a variety of topics. Here is the link to the playlist of videos that cover Earth and Space topics. There are a multitude of video demonstrations that can easily be recreated in the classroom to help your students understand. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLat8Jejmdx1sa0MOWmvZ_f3Z-IeOZmtRv Hope you find this helpful, Dr. George Mehler Ed.D., Temple University
