Hello, I am currently an undergrad student in Texas working toward my teaching certification for EC-6. Because science isn't given much emphasis until 5th grade due to state exams, from my own experiences as a student and observations I've made, teachers can neglect to provide fun learning experiences with science. As a result, I feel that the subject gets a severe lack of appreciation. So, in a general education classroom, how can I include fun and engaging lesson plans from pre-k to 4th grade where science isn't deemed as important? How can I begin to make students in these lower grade levels appreciate science more?
Hi Amanda,
There are different strategies to help the student appreciate science by incorporating games, getting them to move around, and creating fun science experiments.
