The Constructivism Learning Theory & Philosophy of Education (Mclaod) puts emphasis on the importance of cultural awareness and cutural learning that an educator must open themselves up to. As educators in science it is easy to disregard the importance of culture within our lessons. But is just that forgetfulness by which science as a subject separates children from their differences. However teachers must make themselves available to learn new cultures and never assume they already know enough about one's cultural background. Science is amazing in its nature preventing background, socioeconomic status, race, gender, etc. to impact a students abilities in a lesson. The text expresses an heavier impact of prior knowledge and connections, allowing students to feel connected to science in a way students before them have never felt. Stripping the barriers that are created by student differences allows them to comfortably learn, discover and question the lessons given to them.

This notion of discovering their own lessons and solutions to the problems given to them is further amplified within Demystifying Nature of Science (Lederman, Bartels, Gnanakkan). This article uses a real-world setting to explain the steps in which students should be given in order to thoroughly grasp the concepts they are learning. An important part of the new ways of teaching science allows for us to included literature connections within a science lesson. These connections will help students relate their science concepts to their own experiences and to other classes. I believe that these skills will help students begin to understand that science is more than just memorization but it involves an a deep understanding of new concepts through discovery, and most of all they can enjoy these discoverys!
