Hello all,
Science is ultimately about explaining the phenomena that occur in the world around us. Recent reforms in science education have focused on how phenomena should be used during instruction.
NSTA is hosting a Virtual Conference titled 'Using Phenomena to Drive Student Learning' on Saturday, July 28, 2018. For more information about the conference, visit: http://learningcenter.nsta.org/products/online_courses/VC_180728.aspx
How do you use phenomema in your instruction? What resources do you have/can you share with others about phenomena? What questions do you have for virtual conference presenters about phenomena?

I am very excited to participate in the VC about Phenomena and Student Learning! I enjoy using the Phenomena for NGSS website (https://www.ngssphenomena.com). I know I will get some great ideas for teaching and learning science at today's virtual conference.

I am so excited to be able to attend this Virtual Conference. I am hopeful to find some new and innovative ways to share phenomena with my high school students.

I'm looking forward to learning ideas and collaborating with fellow elementary educators!

During Dr. Lee's presentation, she showed performance expectations that had been color-coded to show each of the 3 dimensions of the NGSS (blue for SEPs, orange for DCIs, and green for CCCs). We were given a link to the NGSS hub at NSTA, but I cannot find this resource. Is this something I will have to create for myself for my grade-level standards, or am I simply looking in the wrong place?

Bonnie-
You can find the list of standards on this web page: http://ngss.nsta.org/AccessStandardsByTopic.aspx
When you look at one of the standards you will see a list of performance expectations (PEs) at the top of the page.
For example, the topic Forces and Interactions: Pushes and Pulls has two PEs at the top of the page. When I put my mouse over the blue box that says "Science and Engineering Practices" parts of the text in the PEs turns blue, as shown in the picture below.
When I put the mouse over the orange box that says Disciplinary Core Ideas, different words in the PEs turn orange.
And finally, when clicking on the green box that says Crosscutting Concepts, different words in the PE are changed to green.

I missed this and it seems like it was amazing. Is there anyway that I can still view it?
