This story has been all over Facebook and other online news sources - while skydiving, a man recorded the passage of a meteorite during its 'dark flight', which occurs when the meteorite has been slowed by friction with the atmosphere and has cooled. I believe that they are still looking for it - and it has been over a year. Of course, the terrain is a factor. Lots of rocks, trees, etc. and just the one meteorite....
This is very interesting…but makes me think to myself I will not be skydiving anytime soon.
It turns out that on final analysis, the rock was just that, a rock (actually 2) that must have been in with the chute when it was packed. But I still don't like heights, so I will not be hit by a rock (or meteorite) while sky diving - ever.
