Me,Teach Science Review
This journal article really called my name when I saw the title, because I use to feel that way about teaching Science. This article is about a preservice teacher that decides to take some surveys from some preservice teachers and their science background. Her main questions were "What do preservice teachers really think about science and the teaching of science?; "What backgrounds do preservice teachers bring to a science methods course that can be used as a starting point?"; and "What attitudes and backgrounds may need further reflection and reshaping?". The results where that, preservice teachers indicated that they enjoy science (75 percent) and look forward to teaching it (63 percent). Only four students indicated a negative response to these particular items. The most important thing is that preservice teachers do view science as important in the elementary grades. This article is a little older, so I would love to see new data to see if it is still the same. I really enjoyed this article in that it pertains to me and I would love to get to teach science.
