Really enjoyed this forum.
Hi Amy,
I really enjoyed this article. I believe that it is important that we challenge our students through a productive struggle, but also understand that we are there to teach and not confuse. The moment that students feel overwhelmed or unsure about the material being presented, these conflicts may cause an interference with the learning mechanism. A broad subject such as matter may be a bit complicated to teach to young students, as there is lots of information that may be subject to confusion. I love how this article encourages the tapping of children prior knowledge, as this mechanism builds on what the students already know and understand. Instead of confusion, the students will now show curiosity and inquired knowledge.
