Drawing on Student Understanding: Using illustrations to invoke deeper thinking
This is a very interesting article to read. It gives great insight into how drawings can be used to link understanding and knowledge of science concepts with artistic abilities. After reading this article, one can see examples of how a school displays the artwork of students that puts on display for all to see their learning and understanding of the topics/concepts that have been taught to them. When students are able to express themselves through art/drawings they can communicate what they have learned when oral representation or writing representation is an area of struggle or an inability.
The great thing about the information in this article is that is applicable by any teacher in any grade level (as the examples show) as well as in any subject. Drawings are not just for Art but for any subject and can make learning fun and engaging for any student.
