I have a want kids to view science with an awe, amazement and curiosity similar to what they have when they see a really great magic trick, then I want them to question "how and why and what happens if?". This is the start to get kids to see the wonder in science and help them learn to use scientific inquiry in their life without it being just a lesson plan. To me, this is only part of teaching science though. Kids need to feel that they are cared about and not just another pupil sitting at their desk. Teaching needs to be both impassioned and personal. We need to plant the seeds that lead to self-esteem, confidence, and a thirst to never stop questioning and learning. This is what I strive to give my students.

I didn't know that about Ceres. Thanks for sharing! I have studied a lot of areas of science but astronomy has not been one of them. I am a pre-service teacher. Do you have any recommendations on any good resources to help get me up to speed? Thanks.
