Christina's Review
The collection that I decided to do my review on was "Food Chain/ Food Web" collection by Julie Morales. This collection includes a variety of materials for teachers to use for teaching students of multiple ages and grades. It provides different examples for students in a way that they are able to understand and have fun. For example, the journal article, "Exploring Animals, Glossopedia Style" provides students with a fun interactive way to learn about animals. The Glossopedia website is something that teachers can use in their classrooms and lessons. I really liked the "Science Sampler: Interactive Interdependence" journal article, because it provides background knowledge for teachers on teachers experiences and examples on how some teachers did the lesson with their students. Like students teachers learn from examples, having journal articles like this one is really helpful on this specific topic. The "Understanding Interactions of Living Things" chapter is something that I believe teachers should use when teaching the interactions between living things. The book chapter provides questions and multiple assignments that teachers can do with their students. I also liked the "Teaching Through Trade Books: Figuring Out Food Chains" journal article. It provide teachers with the knowledge and examples on how to teach students about food chains. This is something that I believe will be very helpful because teaching and explaining food chain is sometimes very tricky. The "What Does Animals Eat?" article is another tool that I believe will help teachers explain the animal food chain to students. It provides pictures and examples that will help students learn and enjoy at the same time. Lastly, the "Web of Life Connections" article is another source that teachers can use to create lesson plans. I think this is a very good and well structured collection that will help both students and teachers learn.
