When searching for ideas for a lesson, I came across lesson plans that combined the engineering design process with the concept of biomimicry. However, this was for students in upper grades (4th-5th).
Are there any suggestions on how to make a simple lesson where first graders can create an invention that is inspired by their knowledge and understanding of biomimicry?

Hi! I'm also in a first grade class and I can definitely relate to it being difficult to get students' attention back when they are having fun.

I just taught a science lesson to first grade students a couple of weeks ago. I found that giving the students some time to observe and handle all of the materials, before starting the activity, helped to satisfy their curiousity.
