ELL Support in the 5Es
I really enjoyed the article "Strategies for ELL Success" because it broke ELL support down by the 5Es. Something that I specifically found useful was the "Farmer in the Dell" chart. The teacher and students create a chart with adjective, nouns, verbs, adverbs, and prepositional phrases for students to choose words from the chart to create sentences. The sentences they choose will be sung the tune of “Farmer in the Dell.” For example, “The huge volcano explodes, the huge volcano explodes, the huge volcano explodes violently in the mountain.” I really liked that strategy because it can be applicable for a variety of topics. The article is a great source to isolate ELL support when lesson planning with the 5Es. While it is a great source it does not clearly mention NGSS, which could be something to consider.
