I understand the need for formative assessments. As teachers, I think we do this automatically and somewhat unconsciously as we question our students and have discussions. I need to make this move “formal” with making notations and written notations. One of my weakest points is not giving students enough time to answer. To Crystal: I agree that students could benefit from redrawing their concept maps. I have been guilty of only providing one opportunity to show mastery when it was a time consuming activity. I do like the idea of sticky notes also which may decrease the time needed for redrawing the concept maps.
