Great Collection
Your collection has very insightful resources. Teaching the water cycle is so important due to the fact that children need to know that our water supply is limited on earth, and that is why it keeps going around and around. Since all living organisms have a need for water in order to survive, it is probably the most important component of an ecosystem. I like the activity you included in the collection called “The Dirty Water Challenge” I think the students would enjoy conducting an inquiry based project to better understand how the water cycle works, and how filtering affects the water. In your Human Impact resource I read valuable facts about how the natural cycle of water is being affected by human actions. Fresh water is becoming more and more limited due to the overuse and pollution of rivers, lakes, ground water, and even the oceans. Humans can in fact disrupt natural cycles, which is why it is so important to educate our youth regarding our ecosystem and resources. Even the climate can be affected when the water cycle is tampered with. Naturally the water cycle controls climate change through the transferring of energy from ocean to ocean, it influences patterns of precipitation which allow for our food resources to flourish. I enjoyed reading your collection and plan to use some of the information to teach the water cycle in the future.
