This article touches base on how educators acquire their expertise from a vast variety of experiences outside and inside of the classroom that extends their professional development as well as progressing their expertise when working with students. It is stated that "No single source of experience or information develops our professional competence or the art in our teaching." Angela Eckhoff discusses a constructivist learning model and the role of design based approaches and project based work when it comes to learning science, technology, engineering, and math concepts. I really enjoyed reading this article and how it applies different strategies and views on how to teach a lesson in science or other subjects to where there are resources and specific strategies used by the educator to give the students that deeper connection of understanding for them to be able to retain the information and have knowledge from whatever in particular it is that they are learning about. It is stated that "books are resources for learning about teaching strategies, science content appropriate for young children, and understanding best teaching practices." I also liked how Eckhoff stated that when the teacher is observing the students they can assist the student by scaffolding their thinking through questioning and providing opportunities for guided learning with additional supportive materials. Eckhoff states that we as educators need to build lessons for students around their everyday experiences. I also found it of much importance that educators need to provided engaging activities for students where they are to explore the concepts to create knowledge and innovation as well as build upon communication and collaboration.
