Science is the most important subject in our curriculum; what we should use to practice everything else we teach in a day. It empowers students to take control of their education and their life. That’s why I’ve done the following things: Elementary Science Specialist for Paulsboro Schools, President , CES-NJ, President, NJSTA; organize science workshops for NJEA conference, created / published NJSTA 100th Anniversary Book, created/ facilitated Simmons Space Institute at Rowan University. Awards include PAEMST State and National, NASA Astrophysics Educator Ambassador, Gloucester County Teacher of the Year, NJ BISEC Exemplary Service; DEP Outstanding Facilitator, CES-NJ Make a Difference, NJSTA Fellow.

This is the activity I used for my first day of classes for over 20 years. I start each class/workshop with this because it points out that you can find your own answers if you use science to do so. NJSTA is hosting a 5 day workshop on NGSS for the Elementary Classroom, where participants will spend their days creating materials to implement NGSS, which is a lot about PBL.
