I think that gaming can dramatically impact the leaning environment. In science this really helps students connect life and science. The games don't need to be preexisting either. I just finished up a 6th grade lesson on EM and Mechanical waves. For the wrap up day I had them do a nature walk outside the classroom. They worked in groups of 3 to observe what they had learned over the last three weeks. They had to explain what they were seeing, hearing, or sensing in terms of "waves". I think its great that the students get access to that much technology. Use it as much as you can. Having it all on-line does not matter as much as having students "play" with the products. I am jealous of all the teachers with more than one computer in their class, but I make due.
