My NSTA / Peers / Michael Rest

Greetings. My name is Michael Rest. I live and teach in Baltimore City. My teaching career began in 1993. Since then, I have taught at various schools throughout the BCPSS. My first teaching position was in the second grade. Over the years, I have taught grades two through twelve. I have held my current role as the Design Technology teacher at The Mount Washington School for the last four years. I very much enjoy the open-ended nature of the class. My aim is to introduce and implement the Engineering Design Process in the context of authentic local, regional, and global topics. Outside of work I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my five year old son, biking, music, kayaking, and laughing.

The focus is on Standards and Benchmarks related to energy, energy transfer, and the conservation of energy. Work and simple machines are used throughout the SciPack to explain energy transformations.
