My NSTA / Peers / Lisa Mitchell

I am a STEM Engagement Specialist who believes students should be actively engaged in their own learning. For the past 9 years, I have been constructing my understanding and use of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and creating 3-dimensional, hands-on learning experiences for my students. As a result, I have created inquiry-based curricula that incorporate STEM projects, lab activities, and the science/engineering practices of the NGSS. Through reflection and revision of lessons, I encourage my students to investigate the world we live in and explore how it works. I aim to collaborate with like-minded educators as I continue to grow my experience and understanding of STEM education and NGSS.
