Not Your Average Word Wall

I love how these interactive word walls are a mash-up between your traditional word wall and thinking maps. These are powerful tools in building student vocabulary as well as helping them with meaning-making. I have previously strayed away from word-walls because the intention and integration within the science lesson makes this a tool that I want to use.

This article is a very concise guide on how to incorporate scientific drawings into your science classes. I appreciate the break-down between artistic drawing and scientific drawing-something I had not identified on my own. It also introduces great scaffolding techniques about how to teach scientific drawing to your younger students.

Tech for the Win

I love reading about successful project-based learning! This is a great project that can be adjusted for varying locations and grade-levels. This project is noteworthy because it is one of the few that I have seen that can be done through distance learning. It can be difficult to organize project-based learning for the younger grades given the current climate of education. This project is reasonable and exciting as you investigate locally before branching outwards to a global scale.
