Everyday Engineering: It's Stuck on You

It's stuck on you!

Before coming across this article i would've never thought about doing such activity, I found this activity to be really creative. This activity allows students to use engineering concepts to figure out what band-aid is the best one for purchase and allows students to experiment, explore and compare the degree of waterproofing on different types of bandages. They also make/engineer a knuckle bandage that does not leak. I think this is a great activity for the classroom because it is very hands-on.

Habit of Persistence

This article is very interesting because the habits of mind can be helpful when developing good problem solving skills. Many times students want immediate answers to everything but helping students develop this habit of mind (persistent) will help the student not to rely only on the teacher for answers, but rather use the tools that they already possess. I recommend this article because it makes a lot of sense and can help teachers model the persistence for students to follow.

Really great resources

Carili Rubin, This is a great collection because it contained really good information. This will defiantly be useful when teaching students about this topic. When I was growing up, I never remember the teachers ever doing hands on activities about the connection between the environment, animals, and if effects on each other. The article "What Happens When an Environment Changes", really helps to be able to teacher students about cause and effect of environmental change on living things. Very good collection.... Thank you!!
