Archive: Supporting the Implementation of the NGSS in Assessment: Implications of Research, February 25, 2016

This web seminar took place on February 25, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Eastern time. The presenters were Marcelle Siegel, Associate Professor of Science Education, University of Missouri and Joy Barnes-Johnson from Princeton Public Schools.

Program abstract: The NGSS present a bold vision for science education that is challenging teachers to change their practice. Given the shifts in teaching and learning envisioned by the NGSS, it is inevitable that changes in assessment practices must follow. Join members of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching (NARST) as they discuss Supporting the Implementation of NGSS through Research: Assessment and share resources for designing and differentiating classroom assessments. Science teachers, district science leaders, PD providers, and those who work with the next generation of science teachers will gain useful insights on the implications of research for classroom assessment.
