I really enjoyed this article and how each aspect of making cookies was explored on different days. It also highlighted just what goes into making cookies, especially when someone has little experience doing so. Comparing and contrasting what makes a cookie vs a cracker, measuring supplies, and figuring out how to cut cookies out of the dough in the most efficient way. All of these developing skills can be used for a variety of tasks in the students future, and can be built upon as the year progresses!

This is a 5E lesson plan that helps students explore physical science and measurement. I love the idea how integrating math and science in a real-world scenario. This lesson is full of fun hands on activities that help students be able to piece together what it takes to make cookies. The lesson starts by have the students engage where students get to choose what station they would like to explore. Students got to roll out dough and use a variety of cookie cutters. The following day students get to implement what they learned the first day. What qualities makes a cookie a cookie or a cracker? The students then have a class discussion to come to a conclusion of what the difference is between a cracker and a cookie. The nest day the teacher and the students then discuss their ideas about measuring solids, liquids, and volume.
I really enjoyed reading this article. I never thought something as simple as making cookies from scratch could apply to so many different learning concepts. Most children usually do this with loved ones. This allows children to explore and learn hands on and experiment. They are plenty of mistakes that can occur which will help student understand trial and error. This will also work for all grade levels. Some students like myself might not have ever made cookies with a loved one before, this will be such a great experience for them.
