I loved this resource! The small story at the beginning gives the students the capability to make a personal connection. In addition, the chapter lays out this idea for older grades, which is fantastic. As I was reading this, I automatically thought about how I would implement it in my own classroom. Perfect for a seasonal lesson plan!

What a perfect story to connect science and Halloween. With stuffed curriculum, sometimes we need to weave a little fun into our classrooms. This story sets the stage for an inquiry into pumpkins, volume vs mass, and plant biology. This would be a great segue into a hands-on exploration with pumpkins, or squash.
