Archive: Sponsored Web Seminar: Authentic Student-to-Student Discourse, March 28, 2022

What does it look and sound like when students are engaged in authentic science discussions for a variety of different purposes as they work to figure out phenomena? And how can educators support students to engage in these rich conversations, not just to deepen their conceptual understanding, but to help create a sense of belonging in a classroom community? Join Rebecca Abbott, professional learning and literacy lead from the science curriculum development team at UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science, to explore these questions.

In this interactive presentation, sponsored by Amplify, we’ll analyze examples of K-8 students engaging in various discourse strategies and routines as they work to figure out real-world phenomena.  Teachers will have an opportunity to see how these strategies might apply to your classroom context.
