This inquiry activity is used after students have learned how to calculate kinetic and potential energy but before they learn about conservation of energy. It is important for students to repeat the measurement three times because it is not easy to measure the exact bounce height. You may choose to give the approximate mass of the ball so that students see that the mass cancels in the calculation.
