This is an excellent webinar to get great ideas and video clips to use to teach distance/rate/time problems. The interactive activity where students become air traffic controllers and solve real problems is outstanding. Students use math to solve particular air traffic control situations. The moderator walks participants through a specific problem from a workbook that is available for free. The distance/rate/time formula is the focus of the math problem discussed.

Jordan uses real time traffic control information to teach an inquiry based lesson on distance/rate/time problems. I like the idea of using airplane traffic to teach this concept. I think the students would like the Smart Skies program and learn the benefit of using math to solve problems. Teaching mathematical reasoning is tough and this is an interesting idea.
