The probe looks at if students understand if the Earth is round. One fo the suggestions for the classroom is to us a melon such as a cantaloupe. Have students confirm that it is round. Then, cut a slice of the cantaloupe and ask students if they still believe the rind is round. This is a model for the earth. Ties well with the science practices in the Next Generation Science Standards.
