Putting a Spring in Archimedes’ Step

As teachers with often limited resources, we are constantly looking for ways to promote serious science at low cost and with minimal equipment. This activity helps students to understand buoyancy and targets important science and math concepts while keeping procedures and materials simple. This often difficult concept of buoyancy is tackled from the point of view of “weight loss.”
