Exploring the fragile environment of Karst enables students to examine how Earth systems interact over time to create the spectacular landscape features and unique watersheds of Karst regions. It also will help students appreciate how knowledge of Earth science and Earth systems interactions is essential to making wise decisions. Most importantly, students will learn to appreciate how they are a part of the Earth system, and how a little knowledge about Earth systems can go a long way toward helping protect precious natural resources, such as our groundwater supply. This article provides teachers with the knowledge to help students achieve these goals.
