Project-Based Learning has been around a long time in education, but it is just now getting more recognition as a way of teaching students that engage them in real science. This article describes a program called Fossil Finders where students study real fossils and share their data with real scientists. Teachers interesting in using this program can go to their website for ideas and materials. The authors of this article have discovered that problem students can become exemplary students when they are engaged in something they take a personal interest in.
