This teacher uses a "no excuses" policy, along with positive reinforcement and consequences for students who are not ready for class, to guide students towards successful study habits. She presents methods she uses to make students feel responsible for their learning that could be implimented in most classrooms and has found it successful. I use some of these strategies as well, and have found that reinfocing good behavior and providing opportunities for students to complete work after school does lead to improved grades and homework submissions. I also have students lead parent-teacher conferences when I can as they know what they are doing and should be responsible for their own behaviors in secondary school.
