In this 3-week research project, high school students adopt a dinosaur and create an ecosystem in which their dinosaurs can thrive. They then create a visualization of this “ecological home” using dioramas, computer-generated graphics, or some other way to create a 2- or 3-D Dino Den. Since students are not able to directly observe dinosaurs in nature, so their graphic visualizations become viable, creative solutions for increasing knowledge about dinosaurs and the geological time frame they occupied. Actual student samples are pictured in the article. The creativity and attention-to-detail shown in the students’ models are outstanding.

This unusual article describes how students in a high school class each "adopted a dinosaur" to research using the three areas of environment - air, land, and water. Each student has assignments to complete in regard to their dinosaur. Students showed a higher interest in this project over what their normal performance was.
