By reviewing of scholarly articles this author addresses the concept of a multicultural science classroom. A classroom where all students have worth and all cultures, races, ethnicity are represented and respected equally. Reflecting on what this author presents it is the belief of this writer that science transcends these boundaries by presenting ideas and theories in an environment that is not biased by popular beliefs. That may be naïve but for the most part it feels right.

This article aims to define multicultural education, and explain how it differs from a culturally diverse classroom. It defines multicultural education as “a field of inquiry with constructs, methodologies, and processes aimed at providing equitable opportunities for all students to learn quality science in schools, colleges, and universities”. It explains how a culturally diverse classroom is a classroom made up of diverse classrooms, but a multicultural education is one that recognizes the diverse population, believes all students have the ability to learn science, and acknowledges the impact of different cultures on science. The point of this article is to explain the stance of the Journal on multicultural education as an introduction for later articles that explain activities teachers can do to make their classroom more multicultural.
This was a good, brief explanation of multicultural education, and the importance in the science classroom. I would have preferred a reference to the Journal volume because I am referencing it in a paper on multicultural education in the science classroom.
