This is a very thorough article about using anticipation guides rather than answer sheets when reading from a science text. Anticipation guides are statements and questions that are answered by T or F before the students read the textbook. While reading the textbook they answer the questions again and back their answer up by evidence from their reading. The article describes the types of questions and statements to put in an anticipation guide. The study concluded that students retain information better by using this method instead of using a study guide or worksheet.
