There are unique procedures common to geology and rock studies that require safety procedures. This article provides a pretty extensive list of activities associated with rock study and how an educator should handle safety in that situation. For example: One should be very careful if they are performing a bead test where flame is involved. This covers inhaling fumes and a reminder to never use alcohol lamps. These are no different than those for other sciences but the processes covered are associated with geology in particular.
