I really enjoyed reading "Avenues to Inspiration" by Ashley Campbell. This article gave examples of many ways in which students can get excited about Science by looking at art. Through displaying art which revolves around Science in our classrooms we can spark inquiry. The example of the alphabet created by patterns from butterfly wings is a great way to engage students in the process of inquiry. The article also gave examples of many great artists that focus on nature in their artwork. An example from the article about observing snowflakes underneath a microscope relates in many ways to my unit of cell structure and function. Before looking at cells I can show students a PowerPoint of certain items and what they appear to look like under the microscope. The students can have a lot of fun doing this and guessing what the items are.
