The Crosswicks Creek Caper: A third-grade geology investigation

In this inquiry-based “caper,” students designed and conducted experiments to find answers to their questions related to "mystery rock." Through this investigation, the children learned that rocks and minerals have unique physical and chemical properties that can be observed and described. They also learned to design an experiment and control variables in order to answer a question.
